I'm an introvert. There I said it. Being an introvert means I don't like being around a lot of people, I like time to myself, and I don't initiate small talk. So being a photographer seems like an odd choice, but look photography chose me. For all of these reasons, networking events are incredibly difficult for me. Most of the time, I come off socially awkward and truthfully, most times I feel that way. Regardless, I know that for any business to grow you have to network. Well introverts don't necessarily like networking. That's where the sideways hustle comes into play.
Think about it. What better way to grow your business than to work with people you already work with (I'm looking at you YASB Salon!). You know, the places you get your hair and nails done, your child's daycare, the poets you see perform. I already love the salon that does my hair, my sister in law is also a licensed cosmetologist, my nieces are gorgeous, my cousin has a stationary company and the list goes on and on. They need help growing their business as do I. I've reached out to them to do photoshoots before and honestly it was a great experience. So why not hustle side ways and grow together? Great idea, right?
Networking events don't always guarantee business, but working with bloggers, stylists, etc that you already know makes crazy sense. The next thing you know everybody's business is growing and you now have your business tribe. Business is tough and having a great group of people that you know and are comfortable with makes it easier for everyone to grow their business together.
Here's a short list of my favorites, I love working with them!
